The complete system, consisting of the power supply, temperature controller, and build platform, is completely independent of your Z18's software and hardware. The build platform simply slides in place of the original flex build platform. Thanks to a long ribbon cable, the controller can remain outside the build chamber. The cable can be routed either through the gap above or below the build chamber door.
On the controller, you set the desired temperature for the build platform. For PLA, for example, 55°C, for PETG 75°C, and for ABS 95°C. Now you can no longer print only PLA on your Z18, but can also use materials that have better mechanical properties for your intended use.
Thanks to the heated build chamber, you can produce ABS parts with even better results on your Z18 than on any other 3D printer known to us. In our time-lapse video, you can see how a fairly large ABS part is created without warping or cracking.
In addition to the freedom to use different materials, you can also print without a raft, resulting in a completely smooth underside of your components. After cooling, even large components can be removed easily and without effort, as the component detaches from the build platform as it cools.
